A MESSAGE FROM TESHE SHUMAN,
OWNER & EDUPRENEUR
Since I was a little girl, I have always loved learning. Therefore, it is my mission to continue unlocking potential and creating life long learners. Not only am I able to do so by being a high school educator, I also accomplish this goal through my business Learning Is Key Educational Services (L.I.K.E.S.).
Since L.I.K.E.S.’ inception in 2010, I have had the opportunity to work with countless students and assist them with various English/Language Arts skills, as well as prepare them for high-stakes tests such as the MAP and Georgia Milestones Assessment, along with the ACT and SAT. It is always a pleasure to hear success stories of improved grades, comprehension, scores and self-confidence!
Concerning my educational background, I am an Edupreneur – an educator who owns a business! I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl; however, I did not graduate from The University of Georgia (UGA) with a Bachelors degree in Education. Instead, I majored in English since I always excelled in the subject, and I enjoyed reading, writing, and especially grammar.
Once I graduated from UGA, my first “real” job” was in the Office of the Registrar at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). While working there, an older friend of the family suggested that I look into the Pathway to Teaching Program at the local college; she said that I would be great at it! Seventeen years later, I cannot imagine having any other career other than teaching. After I became certified and obtained my Masters in Secondary English Education, I received an Education Specialist degree in Teaching and Learning. My ultimate goal is to secure an Ed.D, in Education before I retire and open an ELA learning center. I currently teach 12th grade British Literature at Effingham County High School. I have been married 14 years to my awesome husband, Kyunnie (owner of RDP Productions), and we have two fabulous nine-year-olds, Kaden and Kyla!
